Ammeth: A summer of farming art and heritage
As part of our Farmers will like it project to review, research, conserve and explore Cornish farming heritage we have been collaborating with Falmouth Art Gallery and Kestle Barton on how our organisations represent Cornish farming and farmers. We’re pleased to share news of two summer exhibitions celebrating and exploring this subject.

New exhibition at Falmouth Art Gallery
6 July – 5 October 2024. Free.
A wonderful, diverse exhibition of contemporary work, historical objects and art which are windows onto the more hidden aspects of farming and the people that work the land for our food and sustenance. As part of our conservation and contemporary documentation project, we have contributed new research and artefacts to this exhibition, including the fabulous corn dollies.

Anthology of Rural Life at Kestle Barton
15 June – 1 September 2024. Free.
At Kestle Barton, photographers Colin Robins and Oliver Udy present a visual study of what it means to live a rural life. The exhibition includes images made in locations across Europe alongside recent work focusing on farming life made on the Lizard Peninsula. The photographers aim to show farmers and rural life as it is, rather than romanticised. The whole collection will be deposited with Cornwall’s archive Kresen Kernow afterwards.
